If you are coming to Corfu, and feel that it is likely that you will find a property, and you want to begin the purchase process, please note that the requirements have now changed (since 1/1/08), for the process of opening a bank account. You will not be able to open an account, without certain paperwork relating to country of residence, identity proofs etc and it could mean that your purchase is delayed, or that you have to make extra visits back to Corfu, so it is most important that you have some paperwork with you.
